Trujillo, located on the northern coast of Peru, is a city rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Boasting archaeological wonders, such as the ancient city of Chan Chan, and famous for its elegant Peruvian Paso horses, Trujillo offers a unique blend of past and present. In this article, we’ll guide you through a thrilling 3-day, 2-night journey to explore the fascinating sites of Chan Chan and witness the grace of the Caballos de Paso.

Day 1

Upon arriving in Trujillo, take some time to settle in at your chosen accommodation. Trujillo offers a range of options, from charming boutique hotels to modern resorts. Once you’ve rested, head into the city to explore its historic center.

Start your journey at the Plaza de Armas, the heart of Trujillo, surrounded by colonial-style buildings and the impressive Cathedral of Trujillo. Stroll through the streets, discovering the vibrant local culture and perhaps sampling some traditional Peruvian cuisine at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2: City Tour Chan Chan

The tour begins at the archaeological center, visiting the Chan Chan Site Museum, where the museum exhibits various original objects found in Chan Chan, including wooden idols, ceramics, textiles, metalwork and construction materials (adobes, ropes , beams).

Next, we will visit the pre-Hispanic urban center of Chan Chan, which is considered the largest mud city in pre-Hispanic America and called the World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

During the tour you can see the structure of the majestic citadel where you can see squares, houses, warehouses, workshops, streets, walls and pyramidal temples of huge walls that are decorated with reliefs of geometric figures, zoomorphs and mythological beings.

Day 3: Paso horses

Move from the hotel to airport.

On your final day, experience the elegance and grace of the renowned Peruvian Paso horses. These horses are famous for their unique four-beat lateral gait, known as the “paso llano,” which provides a smooth and comfortable ride. Several ranches and haciendas in the Trujillo region offer horse shows and demonstrations.
